Spring has Sprung...by Nora

I am wondering who is seeing Spring out there, because it's not me.

Calgary is still lightly snowing.
We are still trying the break the shackles of winter here, but hope and crafting makes it feel like spring could come.
So with the possibility of Spring on the horizon, we want (maybe even need) to see a warm up featuring flowers!

Hello! I am here to share my first Emerald Creek DT project. The theme this month is flowers and I thought Thinkerbelle was the perfect canvas to decorate my card! This is also my first experience with Emerald Creek embossing powders and I can say that I am in love with them!

I started with coffee archival ink as I wanted the piece to have a vintage feel to it.

I colored Thinkerbelle with various watercolor paints, alcohol markers and ink pencils. I antiqued the edges with archival ink.

I framed the card with the absolutely beautiful Emerald Creek Charred Gold embossing powder! The charred gold was the icing on the cake for this one. It added the perfect amount of antique gold yumminess to the edges. I felt it gave the piece a truly vintage feel. The card was finished with a scrap of sari ribbon.

Finally Spring has arrived over here in Vienna and there's an end to snowfall and chilly temperatures (instead they have risen from quite cold to extremely warm for Springtime within two days!). On my balcony the daffodils are in full bloom and their bright yellow against the green leaves inspired this rather clean and simple Spring tag.

I decided to highlight some of my favourites (besides the Baked Texture line) among Emerald Creek embossing powders from Kim's amazingly wide range and use them to create dimensional flower embellishments with loads of bright colour and shine.

And I just love the Clear Ultra Thick Gloss enamel that I put on top of some of the flowers and sprigs!

Happy Spring Time!

Hi friends! Karla here today with a beautiful mixed media card for April's challenge - Flowers! I've create a lovely card that could work for either a feminine or a masculine card using the Vintage Timepiece Stamp as my focal point.

Here's a look at the inside and the envelope using the beautiful Carnations stamp.

You can check out the process video HERE (or watch below) with lots of tricks and tips for using your embossing powders!

Be sure to check out the blog post HERE on my blog to see closeups and details, and check out all the wonderful craftiness at the Emerald Creek Shop here.

Hi everyone, for today's project I was in the mood to play with the new Distress Oxide colors and test how they react when used on a Gel Press. So I created several tags in blue and orange shades, knowing that I wanted to use the blue ones as the base.

After I was done, I stamped the flowers onto the orange tags and fuzzy cut them out. In addition I stamped one of the flowers onto a piece of tissue paper. Before adhering the flowers, I added a bunch of textured layers to the tag though, some of them stenciled with darker Distress Oxide, some of them then heat embossed with several Baked Texture powders.

After I adhered the flowers to the tag, I also added a small fairy to one of the tags. I finished them up with a few final touches, like edging the borders with brown Distress Oxides. If you'd like to see the entire process, you can watch the video here.

Spring has Sprung?! - Kim #23 of 40

First up is Me!

I had some ideas and decided I just needed to break with the work flow (79 packages packed and shipped in 4 days with 73 of those in the last 2 days) and craft for me.

So I grabbed the Gladiolas, Freshly Picked and Large Oak stamps. I stamped them using Stazon and did a light bit of colouring with my Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens.

You can't see the shimmer in the photo but it held and gave a bit of accent when I did the next part.

I Grabbed the Vintage Beeswax and layered over a couple of times using my Ranger Emboss It Dabber and heat tool and I loved how bold and rich the images became.

I am not sure where I will go with these pieces but I loved getting this result.

Stay tuned, it's creative month so I will blog up a bunch of photos for the cards I make at the end of April. I love the Card weekend. Plus we are doing a couple of gigs so we have lots of prep coming after this week, because I will be finished with the package catch up.

I wanted to create something to decorate my home with for Easter - but not in the usual pink-yellow-greenish colour palette one can find in the shops right now. I needed something to fit our dinette which mostly has warm brown-ish colours from the different sorts of wood our table, bench and chairs are made of.

I also wanted to create a beautifully patterned house shaped background panel for the bunny key charm using Emerald Creek rubber stamps from my current stash - and found the fab Tiger Lily stamp which was just perfect for what I had in mind! (I love the brush stroke like patterns from the lily's petals!)

And as I wanted to have my Easter wall hanging look a bit festive, I used some of Seth Apter's beautiful Baked Texture embossing powders too.

Baked Texture - What goes into packaging #22 of 40

Baked Texture IS a new style of Art Medium

Embossing Powder has been around for decades, but now like this.
We create embossing powders that achieve finished results without dry times, toxic fumes, or gooey messes.

Baked Texture was designed for and with Seth Apter because he is a medium artist, not a typical paper crafter. When he teamed up with us, he brought ideas of texture and colour that is not know in the embossing powder world. Because of this wonderful pairing we have created a product that is taking the Craft and Art world by storm and we want to answer some of the questions we are seeing frequently.

Today we are talking about packaging. You may have wondered why some jars appear less full then others. You may be thinking 'Hey my Rocky Road looks more black then I expected or have seen'.

Well to answer your questions on the package, come visit with me through the candid and raw YouTube video. (Please excuse the lack of makeup and hair, I seldom worry about it when I am in full packaging mode. I often looking like I am shimmery and sparkly, or possibly dyed blue like a smurf because I have been actually making everything but the raw plastic these days. I wasn't planning on the video but I happened to get the idea and had Janell on hand to help me.)

I hope this helps clear up a few questions but please feel free to ask any that you have. We have about 2-3 weeks left and we will be caught up.

Thank you for your Patience, Love and Support.

PS: We have already started initiating protocols for the next release where we will be creating another frenzie ;)
