Claudia

Happy birthday, Canada!

I haven't been to Canada yet, but I am pretty sure it must be one of the most beautiful places to travel to or live in! I love the forests and wildlife there and I would love to see the Northern Lights one day!
It so happened that I have just finished reading two novels by German writer A. E. Johann who loved Canada and made it the place of many of his wonderful novels! And I am a huge fan of "Northern Exposure" - a TV series from the 90s! So I just love this month's challenge theme!
When I think about Canada my first image in my head is the one of deep endless forests surrounding peaceful lakes - all lit by the light of the aurora borealis. I tried to capture that in my tag using (almost) all of my favourites among Kim's amazing and beautiful (!) embossing powders.

Wow, what a celebration! And Emerald Creek is in the middle of it celebrating the 150th anniversary of Canada. I've never been, but driving through the entire country is a huge dream for me. My dad always told me about the times when he flew from Germany to Canada, rented an RV and then travelled the country. He always said that he had his best vacations there.

To join in in September's "Canada the Beautiful" challenge, I created a winter wonderland scene surrounded by the Canadian anthem. I used color sprays to create the winter scene in the background and used a black journaling pen to scribble the words around it. Then I covered the trees in Fractured Ice (my favorite of all embossing powders :) ). Also, I used some acetate and made a snow bank out of it. Because I like the Fractured Ice embossing powder so much, I used it and the Vintage Pram Stamp to add a little interest to the black background. At the end, I popped everything onto a card base and was done. Super simple project with a stunning effect.

If you want to see the video tutorial of how I made the card, jump on over to my blog. Thanks for stopping by!
