Fireworks & Sparks - Claudia

CELEBRATE!

With Canada's 150th Celebration underway (for the rest of the year I am sure) and 4th of July tomorrow, there is always a party this month. If you have a special celebration this month in your countries, cities or homes be sure to comment what your special July event is.

For this Challenge, make it sparkle or shine. Have it light up the night sky or twirl in the sunlight. Show us your handmade decorations, invites, banners, lights, jars, bottles, or decor. If you crafted your celebrations, share them here :)

When reading about "sparks" for our July challenge theme I immediately had to think of the "creative spark" we all try to capture in our art and feel so lost without when it simply won't ignite our imagination.
So my "with and without creative spark"-tag-diptych is my attempt to visualize the two states in two opposing tags. I also used a lot of Emerald Creek's fab embossing enamels as these have awesome "sparkle" too.

Millie is here to spark some conversation! I love how the three star metal band fit her like a headband.  I took that and just kind of ran with it.

Happy Belated 4th of July to my American friends! The 4th is one of my favorite holidays! I am so thankful for the freedoms we have in our country and for our men in uniform that sacrifice dearly to preserve those freedoms. I wanted to make a tag for this month's challenge to celebrate this special day.

Celebrational Tags - Guest post by Frederique

Celebrate with Passion!

I invited Freddie over to guest post today because of her amazing patriotic tags she had posted on Instagram.

I love Freddie, she was one of the first people to follow along back when I started to launch  Emerald Creek publicly. She is creative, talented and such a kind-hearted soul. I think she has the largest collection of Emerald Creek embossing powders, most of which she had ordered before I knew much about her.

Being from the Netherlands, I am always surprised by how many creations she does for other countries, peoples birthdays, and how she can reach out and make 1 person anywhere in the world feel like the most important individual. I am left in awe of how much she considers others.

Frederique

As the 4th of July is only days after the Canadian Day,
I made an American themed tag...

Especially for Canada Day, on July 1st, I made a tag using various luscious embossing powders by Emerald Creek craft supplies

Come check out Freddie's blog post and follow her on Instagram and Facebook.

We just celebrated Canada's 150th birthday on July 1st with lots of fireworks and sparklers, so Kim's 'Fireworks & Sparks' dare was the perfect opportunity to make a card to mark that wonderful occasion!  I've some step out photos on my blog on how I created my Celebrate 150 Fireworks card with lots of embossing powders and stamps from Emerald Creek Craft Supplies, hope you can stop by for my how to.

Fireworks & Sparks - Oh Canada! - #7 of 40

CELEBRATE!

It's Canada's 150th Birthday Today! so lets show some love and festivities.

We DARE you to have an amazing time this month. With Canada Day and 4th of July always kicking off our July, there is always a party. Do you have a special celebration this month in your countries, Cities or homes? If so, please be sure to comment what your special July event is.

For this Challenge, make it sparkle or shine. Have it light up the night sky or twirl in the sunlight. Show us your handmade decorations, invites, banners, lights, jars, bottles, or decor. If you crafted your celebrations, share them here :)

Happy 150th Canada!

Today we are participating in a blog hop with My Grandma's Teacups. Thank you Tracy for the invite and I am so excited to be with so many great Canadians these last 3 days.

One of my favourite mediums is glass. (Actually anything transparent ignites my crafty channels)

We are camping for Canada Day and mosquitoes can be quite bad this time of year. So, naturally we have as much citronella around as we can. I have decided to make a bunch of tealight holders we can place on the tables and rocks around us.

First, clean the glass well. Remove all stickers and sticker residue from labels. Next grab your favourite alcohol ink. Today I am using Raisin by Ranger Ink.

Second, turn the glass upside down and begin dripping the alcohol ink around the top edge so it can run down the glass.

Two important notes: do this on a Craft Matt, mine is filthy, but I can always use a good cleaner to clean it off later. And watch out for the oils on your fingers touching the clean glass. It can create some patterns in the ink that will make the holder look bad.

Once you have created the desired effect and colour, let it dry completely, maybe even overnight. The next step will be way more successful on dry glass.

Now, grab your image, I have used the Canada Leaves & Maple Leaves & Dots stamps from the Emerald Creek Products line, and the emboss it dabber by ranger. You must use a cling mount stamp for this part.  Do not use a block, do not hesitate when applying the stamp or it will smudge, and gently press it evenly.

Add embossing powder to the image. I selected, Glacier WhiteSoft Fallen Snow, and Oh Canada powders from the Emerald Creek store. You may find stray dots of powder stock to the project. Take  deep, powerful breath and release as hard as you can. All the strays will fly away leaving and image ready for heat embossing.

Voila, your tealight holder is ready.

Happy Canada Day again!
