YAY,  Niki is back!

I knew I needed Niki to guest post for Halloween, because when I think Halloween, I think Niki and Pawsitively Creative.

Check out her Spook-tacular Creation!

Niki's use of embossing powder over all of the fencing created the perfect aging. And check out the use of embossing powder on the pumpkin. Genius!

Niki also featured 2 of the New Charms - The Bat and my new favourite, the Rose.

40 to 40 #2 - Let it Snow

This Monochromatic Card is one of my favourites.

Over the years it has evolved; the images and text have changed, the size has been altered and the number of mats have increased and decreased. But this is so easy and has a stunning impact.

So let's get started.

I started with 1/4 of an 8.5" x 11" Arctic White  100lb cardstock.

Stamped the Moose where I wanted so I could build a scene around him.

I used the Take 1Summer CampEx-Stream and Large Circle stamps.

for the Take 1, I inked the image once and stamped twice, with the second image higher and offset.

I used the Summer Camp and Large Round stamp to stamp the image and then create a mirror and re-stamp the flipped image. to do this use a permanent ink and stamp Summer Camp onto the circle, then, while the ink is wet, flip the circle to stamp the card stock. (Practice first, it may take a couple of tries to get the hang of it but once you do, creating mirror images will be easy).

Now that your image is ready grab your Xyron Creative Station with permanent adhesive, place the image face down and roll through. Remove the paper and plastic from the adhesive, the face of the image will be sticky.

Use Iridescent Shimmer Embossing powder (it's fine and because it's not straight glitter, I feel the winter image has more impact and a softer look), and pour it over the adhesive. Tap it off and use your finger to burnish (rub in and brush off) the excess adhesive. DO NOT HEAT the powder, it stays just like this.

Then Stamp your favourite phrase on a 1" x 4.25", I chose Let it Snow.

Then start  cutting the matting layers.

The Card base is Arctic white card stock 8.5" x 10.75" (yes I trimmed it down with my Fiskars Cutter),  and I layered the Black piece at 8" x 10.25"

I matted the Let it snow with 1.25" x 4.5" black core'dinations paper and 1.5" x 4.75" White Cardstock.

And the moose scene with is  4.5" x 5.75" Black and 4.75" x 6" White Cardstock

I took the White pieces and used my Ranger Ink Emboss It Dabber to ink the edges, applied Hammered Metal Embossing powder and heated until I had a nice smooth finish for the frame.

Then I Grabbed by Scotch ATG Tape Gun, and stared taping all of the layers together for each size.

Now center them side to side and space them top to bottom according to your preferred look. I liked a little more black at the bottom and between the image and word and less black at the top.

Falling into Celebration - Part 2

Well, October is halfway done and with 3 awesome celebrations this month, Canadian Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Diwali (the exciting and gorgeous Festival of Lights), there are so many creations to share.

So let's check out what the team cooked up mid-month to help you create some more inspired projects for your chance to win $50.00 in the Emerald Creek Shop.

Ahhh, triple digits are gone so it must be Fall in Arizona.  I live right near Phoenix, so no changing leaves for me.  I grew up in Massachusetts and I think that's why Fall is my favorite season.  I don't know why but Autumn always makes me reflect on what I have and what I am thankful for.  This little wreath reminds me that there is something to appreciate every day.

Fall is one of my favourite seasons, but for this challenge these products were just calling to me! I had a lot of fun trying to incorporate the "Festival of Lights" theme into my card by using the sparking blue brads, stars, and the word shine. This could be used as a Christmas card, or even just an everyday pick-me-up card. I hope that you are able to check out my process video because I loaded this project with a ton of fun and messy supplies!

Cathy

I love so much about October and all the colours, but I also love the crisper evenings especially on clear nights! I had this lamp post in my stash and I knew I wanted to use it for my "light" project and I wanted shimmering stars like the ones I can see when I look up from my driveway late at night.

Cassandra

With Diwali, the Festival of Lights, coming up at the end of the month, I wanted to share a card idea that uses the most spectacular light display... stars. These stellar beauties can shine brightly within the Distress ink watercolour galaxy created especially for them.

Falling into Celebration

Today, we have so much to look forward to.

This month has us celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving. We have the colours of fall surrounding us, and Diwali and Halloween on the near horizon. So bring your best colours, embellishments, and lights to brighten up this month's Dare challenge incorporating the colours of fall, the celebration of the lights in honour of Diwali, or you creepiest/funniest (LOL) Halloween tricks and magic.

Before we head off to see the projects, I must apologize. If you have been following the Emerald Creek Tour of tradeshows, you will understand why I confused all of my teamies and this blog post. It was set to end on the 30th in some of what I had done, BUT, (insert embarrassed, shy shrug) I may have forgotten to tell my team. So, I am chalking in up to brain dead fun and exhaustion. Thank you all for understanding and ENJOY all of the delights the team has shared.

With Thanksgiving just around the corner here in Canada, I decided to make a Happy Thanksgiving wall hanging for our this month's challenge at Emerald Creek Dares.  The Eldergrove stamp has made another appearance here (love this stamp!) but this time I've used it as a backdrop for my Schoolhouse stamp 'cabin'.  I've a few close-ups and a description of how I made it over at my blog, Hope you will be able to stop by.

Pam

I hope you are ready for the next "DARE CHALLENGE" on the Emerald Creek Supplies Blog. Since we are heading into fall and of course Thanksgiving, the next challenge is "Falling into Celebration"!
I embossed the Pumpkin Jack with Stem using the Thanksgiving Embossing Powder...it is the perfect embossing powder don't you think!?! Make sure to stop by my blog at "Scrapbook Flair" to see the tutorial on how to recreate my Thanks tag! Hugs, Pam

As the season turns, we are once again thankful for the fruits of the harvest. We celebrate with family and friends and give thanks for our many blessings as we gather around tables decorated in the rich colours of Fall. What better way to make your guests feel special and bring a Fall festive feel to your table setting than with seasonally inspired personalized place cards. Here, I used the readily available and plentiful element of the season... fallen leaves... paired with some embossed hand lettered brush script.
