Anything But Paper....

Are you up for this dare?

We want to see you grab jars, glass, plastic, flowers, leather, wire, metals, foam core, moss, you name it, if it isn't paper then craft with it! Don't be shy, and this one comes with an extra surprise gift, because if you can win this you deserve a little something extra.

First up is Claudia, and she crushed it!

Who needs paper to have some creative fun?! ;)
Stamping into embossing enamels is great fun and can give you amazing texture and effects! I used an old linen book spine and some wood hearts from the dollar store to create an aged and worn looking wall hanging.

Katelyn, nailed it with the brads!

It's all about Anything But Paper for this two week challenge! Embossing brads is lots of fun and you can customize them whatever look you want as I did to create a flower image. I can't wait to see what you create for this two week challenge.

Shilpa created Stunning eye candy with her project!

We have to work on Anything but paper .... I chose Acetate as a base. I made these Art Cards
For background colors I used Ranger Alcohol Inks.

Surprise!!
Our most recent DT Member Cassandra joins us for this challenge.  Cassandra wanted to showcase on this challenge in particular and I am so, so glad she did. Check out her first piece as an Emerald Creek Design Team Member.

I am excited not only to be sharing my first project for Emerald Creek as part of the Design Team but also because I am so stoked about the birch bark bookmarks that I made for this dare. More specifically, these beauties will be used as magazine markers. The idea for a magazine marker was born out of my love of Flow magazine. If you too are a fan of such a specialty magazine, then you might feel the same way as I do about needing a bookmark as a placeholder versus dog earring a corner of one of these lovelies... it just feels so wrong to do the latter.

I loved the challenge of creating these without paper and the experimentation required to figure out what worked with the vase medium. To do so, I used birch bark that I had leftover from a fallen tree. Keeping the width the same, I cut out two different size lengths. Both were done with an emboss resist technique for the background. On the shorter one, I used a bunch of Distress Stains for background colour and one the longer one, I used a combination of Distress Paints. From there, there was a whole lot of stamp layering and embossing. To find further detailed directions, be sure to stop by my blog Scrap Savvy Creations. Until next time... Remember to make memories...

We want to pay a quick tribute to 'Anything but Cute' this group has been awesome in inspiring and participating with use, so if you don't follow the ladies over there, please start today. they are also the inspiration behind this challenge. they have created all kinds of insane and awesome projects without paper.

I just want to extend an apology, for the delay in posting and announcing the last winners. I over extended myself this week and working on my projects, classes, actual jobs and just getting excited that my husband completed his finals this week and starts his new career next week. Thanks for hangin in there with us!

I have a quick question - does Grunge Board count as not paper? I will be back later to see Karen x

  13. Such great inspiration projects! But I am wondering if you mean 'no paper' for the background only? And if paper embellishments are okay? In Shilpa's great pieces on acetate I do spy words and pictures (car, horse) that look like they was printed on paper. I might need new glasses... but I'll be in later to check your answer.

    1. Hi Alice, it means no paper. I believe Shilpa actually used modelling film or white film for those 2 pieces as well.

    2. She stamped them with the horse and rolls stamps and black ink
