Celebrating New DT to bring the Anniversary Heat!

We are so excited on this anniversary weekend to be able to say
"Welcome"
to our Newest DT Members.

We are so Excited to Welcome Sara & Jessica to our team. They bring diverse talent and unique creativity.  Please give them a warm and wonderful Welcome as they kick off their time as Emerald Creek Designers with these awesome "Anything Goes" Creations.

Sara Emily

Happy First Anniversary, Emerald Creek Dares! I am thrilled to be joining the talented Design Team, and what better way to start than with my favorite theme "Anything Goes"! I made my "Remember" card as I think back to the first time I entered an Emerald Creek Dare and won! I am so thankful to Kim for inviting me to join the Team! I hope I won't disappoint her!  I can't wait to see what this next year at  Emerald Creek Dares brings! If you would like to see how I made this mixed media card, I have a step out and close ups on my blog sarascloset.

Jessica Madaglia

My take this month is a little spookier than my new teammate Sara's! We have used some of the same products( the Burnt Copper Leaves Embossing Powder and the Fallen Blossom Stamps), but we have achieved two completely different projects.

I am so excited to be part of this amazing team! I cannot wait to show you the fun projects I have been cooking up for our upcoming themes.  If you pop over to my blog you can see a few more pictures of this lovely couple.

Happy Anniversary PT2 - Anything Goes

Happy Anniversary - PT 2

the Wonderlust Designs!

Because we are creative, we get bored with anything ordinary, so follow along as we re-cap the year and express our wonderlust minds.
.
I am thrilled with this month of Anniversary Events. We have had 2 Instagram winners, we are about to crown 4 Facebook winners, we have 2 new DT members, Sara and Jessica (being featured later this month), and we have switched to month long contests with a
$50 store Credit Voucher for the lucky winner!

All of this is because of you. You have walked with me and grown with me as I decided to launch forward from custom creating into full blown production & launching into stores. You joined me when I wanted to start developing and using my blog. (Luckily, I met Nicole Wright who steered my entry into blogland). I brought on an incredible design team. Then, I went to CHA where I met amazing industry leaders and designers; including 2 of my favorite female role models Eileen Hull and Wendy Vecchi (thank you for being such shining examples). I received an incredibly warm (and life changing) welcome from Ted of Stampers Anonymous and Art from Art Impressions [you both started me on a direction within manufacturing that will forever be invaluable]. And then, there was the shocking and overwhelming moment when I met Tim Holtz! For all you readers, by this point I was so intimidated and had expelled all the bravery I could muster with everyone else, that I literally chickened out and decided I may never meet him even though he was wonderful, kind, and welcoming to everyone at the show; so thank you Tim for making the first move. I was, and still am, over the moon about that moment. And it didn't stop there... there were so many others... I could go on forever.

Whilst still on the CHA tour, I met the amazing Canadians,  Roberta Birnbaum & Jim Thielen who embraced me into CHA Canada, and introduced me to Audrey, Jason, Brenda, & Jeffrey. This team is an amazing force of positive ideas and energy helping to guide our next CHA experience at home and at the show. You all rock and I love all of our conversations.

Recently, I was honoured by being invited to write for General Crafts in the Trends Report Winter Edition 2016.  Although I don't want to give all of the secrets away, here is a picture of one of the projects that will be featured in my article. I will blog about the pieces after the report comes out (you won't want to miss it). Thank you Linda & team for this opportunity.

Winter Trends Report Sneak Peak:
Made With Emerald Creek, Ice Resin, Ranger/Tim Holtz, and Misc Products
To my home team, I can't thank you enough for all of the support and encouragement this past year. The Alberta Stores: Carole from Paper Pastimes, Sandy from Scrapshotz, Lori from The Scrap Yard, Selena at Scrapendipity, and Kathy at the Scrap & Bean, plus Katharina & Jackie creators of the Creative Scrapbooker Magazine and of course my Family - You all have inspired, taught, and uplifted me this past year. I hope I can give back to you this upcoming year as much as you gave to me this first year.

To my other stores - Canuck Crafts, Scrappin & CardMakin, Collins Educational Supplies, The Scrapbook Cottage,  Pages of Thyme, Stamping to See You, & Young at Heart Paper Crafting, thank you for the support through out this year.

NOW ...

Some of my proudest moments have come from my team. The caliber that they create at is truly an honour, an amazing blessing, and a delightful gift they bestowed up on me. So check out the Current Design Team's 'Wonderlust Pieces' on this Anything Goes challenge. And don't forget to play along!

Pam

Today we are so excited to be celebrating Emerald Creek Supplies Anniversary!!! It is such an exciting time for the store, blog, and especially for all the hard work Kim does. We are so glad you are joining us in the celebration. I created a "Cherish" Tag since I think all anniversaries should be a time to be cherished. Please stop by Scrapbook Flair to see how to recreate my "Cherish" Tag. Hugs, Pam

Happy Anniversary Emerald Creek Dares!  Thoughts of celebrations and Kim's prompt word WONDERlust for our Anything Goes anniversary challenge inspired my Presence of Wonder mixed media plaque.  I am so thankful to be a member of this amazingly talented design team and thrilled to be able to help celebrate this wonderful anniversary!  I've a few step out photos on my blog to show you how I created it, hope you can stop by to take a peek.

The "Happy Frog" from the Emerald Creek stamps range has a good reason to be happy today - it's the first anniversary of Emerald Creek Dares! Time to celebrate with an "Anything Goes" tag and challenge this month! Huge congrats, Kim! You are such a busy, fantastic lady, and such a wonderful boss! Here's to another successful year filled with Emerald Creek adventures! xxx

Katelyn

Happy Anniversary Emerald Creek Dares! Congratulations Kim, you are an amazing lady to work with and I know how extremely hard you've worked to create this fabulous business and team. You're a true inspiration to me! So to kick off the anniversary post, it's all about Wonderlust in our Anything Goes challenge. With the Wonderlust challenge in mind I created a fun fairy birthday card. Head on over to my blog to read more about it. I can't wait to see what's in store for Emerald Creek next year! Here's to another fabulous year Emerald Creek!!

Happy Anniversary Emerald Creek! What an amazing year this has been and it's been so great thanks to the creative talent behind the name, Kim! Also, during this first year, we saw the first releases from Nicole Wright Designs for everyone to create with. Celebrating a year of successes and seeing even more amazing things on the way!

*********

Kim is celebrating one year of being in business! I am so thrilled for her as she has made such huge progress and worked her butt off to achieve what she has. She is truly a role model! My tag was inspired by some of my current favourite Emerald Creek products. I am especially loving the Rainy Days stencil. I hope that my project gives you some fun ideas for using embossing powder and stamps on a smaller scale tag and please also check out my process video!

Cassandra

In honour of Emerald Creek's First Year Blogiversary and Kim's quest into new territories for her business, I decided to follow her lead and spread my wings a bit too! I took the opportunity to embrace the Anything Goes Anniversary Dare and try something very much out of my ordinary repertoire. With Emerald Creek's products and the Dare in mind, my imagination was completely sparked and got me wondering 'What if I tried?' when I spied a small brown metal fairy trellis in Dollarama. Being a practical person by nature, I didn't want something solely decorative. Thus, it forced me to experiment and get creative to make it work as I envisioned. For this project, I did a very Kim-esque thing and mixed up a concoction of embossing powders to get just the right colour and look that I was going for. I hope you too take on this month's Dare and
join us with one of your own labours of love.
I must say that it has been exciting to be a part of Emerald Creek's first year journey into
the realm of social media. Congrats Kim on your success and growth over the year! Thanks for having me along for the ride and here's to many more adventurous and successful years!

Happy Anniversary Hero Style - Guest Jessica

Well I am delighted to have Jessica doing 1 more Guest post For Emerald Creek!

She Embraced the Super Hero Idea for this Anything Goes Challenge Month and created a beautiful tribute piece to her idol Frida Kahlo.

Check out this peak off her blog...

JESSICA MADAGLIA

Hi Everyone,
I'm back guest posting for Emerald Creek Craft Supplies today. The theme up on the challenge blog is superheroes. When I heard this my first reaction was "crap."  Don't get me wrong I love superheroes, but making art with and about them? I really had to put on my thinking cap.  I took this theme and went extreme. I made something to celebrate, someone I consider, an art superhero. Frida Kahlo.

..... that is what art is all about, trying to find your authentic self. ...

Continue reading and seeing the process at Two Mad Dahlias

I also want to take a moment to welcome Jessica. After working with Jessica over the past year in various ventures, I am delighted that she has accepted an offer to join the

Happy Anniversary PT1 - Super Hero Style!

Let's Celebrate!

It's been 1 whole year since I started Social Media, blogging, and actually getting into the trade show circuit. All of you have been really the absolute best part of my experience. The love, support, sharing, participating, and everything in between has been the highlight and delight of this whole experience.

For those of you who don't know, I launched my very first DT inspired works and blog post with the theme of the 80's because that was the theme of my first retail show, the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival hosted by Creative Scrapbooker Magazine (Canadian Scrapbooker back then) and Creative Stitches.

A sneak peak at the new 'Bat Charm'.
Since then we have had 22 Winners (including today's), several fabulous Guest Designers, and so many bumps, bruise, successes, and tears. Thank you for sharing this journey with us.

We are changing up the Emerald Creek Dares Blog challenges and moving to 1 $50.00 winner per month. In addition to that, the Top 3 will be given each be given a Special 20% Discount code towards shop purchases and like always, everyone who plays in the challenge will always have the opportunity to save 10%!

To celebrate the anniversary, we are leading with an ANYTHING GOES month long Challenge. (Winners will be announced on the first Monday of the following month.)

Today, we have the first members of the team sharing their projects and leading the group Super Hero Style as we participate in the Great Canadian Scrapbook Carnival throughout September.

I can't even express how excited I am about these projects! I jump up and down and I talk about them all the time. Some of these will be on display at the different trade shows in Alberta and at CHA so if the opportunity arises, don't miss seeing them first hand.

Claudia

Who doesn't love super heroes?! My husband and son (and me too) enjoy all the fun and action packed movies (we especially liked Ant Man!). And I just love the new logo for the upcoming Wonder Woman movie (finally a female super hero hitting the screens! Yay!), so I decided to use some of Emerald Creek's fab embossing powders to recreate and use it on a card.

Heather

This one was a bit of a challenge for me, but once I had an idea, the project came together quite easily! I love watching all of the superhero movies and learning about the characters, but I also love real-life heroes. I wanted to combine these two ideas in my project and the result is a scrapbook page comparing my mom to Wonder Woman! It really isn't much of a stretch! I hope you can check out my process video for this layout.

Katelyn

It's all about Super Heroes for this Emerald Creek Dares and this was definitely a challenge for me. When I was surfing the Emerald Creek Craft Supplies shop, I came across a fabulous bat image and I knew exactly what I would create, a batman inspired canvas. I would love for you to stop by my blog so you can see how I created it.

Cathy

The "40 to 40" Kickoff

If you are wondering what this is all about, well let me tell you...

As of today, this is my last year in my 30's. Instead of being depressed or fretting, I decided I wanted to challenge myself to just love the journey. I am actually excited to be crossing 40 (today anyway). To mark the event, I decided to post 40 entries over the course of the year, embracing all that I am doing, so I can be thrilled, feel accomplished, and just simply enjoy my 40th Birthday.

I have so many projects and posts on-the-go in preparation for this. We will still have contests and monthly challenges starting with September as part of the 40 posts; however, there will also be posts on our Trade Shows, holidays, family moments, and celebrations. I will also share some tips on business, camping (of course), and whatever else this crazy brain of mine decides.

So join me on the journey this year as I welcome the days until my 40th birthday!

To kick off the posts, I thought I would roll out one of my newest cards,
"The Biker" for my Nephew.

I stamped the Sand Dunes and the Biker in Archival Ink.

Then, I used the Rectangle Mirror Stamp to drop in some paint.

After dabbing the colours, I misted the paint blobs.

This one was over saturated with water. Whoops!

This was the paint direct to dry paper.
It didn't move enough to simulate the spray paint tagging effect I was going for.

This was PERFECT! A mist of water to the paper first & then I pressed the paint dabbed rubber directly to the cardstock. The wet paper helped the paint blend.

Next, I spray the Tim Holtz Corrugated Texture Cardstock.

Once dry, I roughed it up with Tim Holtz sandpaper.

I washed the background with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and my waterbrush. Then, I stamped Walnut Stain and Pumice Stone on my Craft Mat and lifted the colour with my waterbrush and painted the Sand Dunes. Evergreen Bough, Black Soot, Festive Berries, & Hickory Smoke Distress Markers were used directly on the Biker to colour him in. To finish off the card, I used the Happy Birthday Stamp with Mercury Rising Embossing powder.
