Dream a little Dream - Pt 2

We are still dreaming of
warm weather, beaches and sunshine
here in Calgary!

What are your dreaming of? Show us any of your artistic versions of your dreams and to show you some inspiration, follow along with these inspirations from our design team.

✿✿✿✿✿

Pam

Hi everyone!!! Are you ready for the May Challenge on the Emerald Creek Dare Blog!!
This month it is about "Dreams"...we all have dreams.
Some good and some not so much!
Butterflies always remind me of great dreams...I can watch them as they are flying around in the garden just enjoying life...looking for the next flower and searching for the next flight! It makes me dream of fairies that might be flying along with them sprinkling pixy dust in flight!
Sounds heavenly doesn't it!

✿✿✿✿✿

Dreams don't have to be so big that you can never achieve them. Poor Sheena has big hair like mine.  My hair isn't green though.

✿✿✿✿✿

While fantasy creations aren't usually within my comfort zone, I had so much fun creating my Fairy Garden Dream mixed media plaque with the help of Kelly Klapstein's Dream Phrase stamp set, Nicole Wright Designs Fallen Blossom stamp, the Chrysanthemum stamp, some Iridescent Shimmer embossing powder and Pyrite Gemstones.  And since every fairy garden needs a fairy, Tim Holtz's Paper Dolls and Botanical Layers combined to create my fairy baby!  Hope you can stop by my blog for my how to.

Dream a little Dream - Pt 1

This is all about Fanstasy!

We want you to unleash your imagination and show us your dreams.

Have fun and check out these creations for some inspiration.

My grandma implanted in me my love for nature fairies. I remember she had an old book that she read to me that had lovely poems about the year's seasons and the most adorable paintings of gnomes, flower princesses, bugs, moths, fairies and other magical creatures. So this is my version of what fairies do when they know that noone is watching.

Cassandra

Dream a little dream of magical lands and little wonders. For this month's Dare inspiration, I went with a wee wonder... a whimsical little fairy in a sparkly magical land in the form of an ATC.  The fairy with flower stamp was stamped on vellum and coloured with a combination of emboss powders, markers, and watercolour pencil crayons prior to being fussy cut out. Pop by my blog to learn more about this little wonder.

Sara Emily

Ah, dreams--just a bit out of my comfort zone! I guess for most people they consist of fairies, unicorns, dragons and other sorts of whimsical creatures. Mine don't, so I had to "feature imagination". I just love Emerald Creek's unique embossing powders, and I used plenty on this wall hanging to bring my fairy to life. It you have time, I'd love it if you stopped by sarascloset to see all the lovely shimmer on both my fairy and my background.

The Double Duty Challenge Continues...

Now I know this is a tough challenge,

but I can promise that if you tackle this one, you will naturally grow and be surprised by what you have within your own creative selves.

So far, the design team and players have been beyond inspirational and I am thrilled to be doing the $50.00 gift code for this one. The winner will have truly earned it. [Plus there will be a little something extra for all who give this challenge a try]. Come on the journey and test your skills. Let's kick off round 2 of the inspiration.

********************************************

Hi everyone! Are you ready for the next challenge on the Emerald Creek Supplies Dare Blog!!!
WELL...
It is all about Double Duty...
I took it to be a literal meaning...
SO...
I created two cards that I will be able to be used in the future..
LET SEE...
WE HAVE...
Easter, Mother's Day, Graduations, maybe a birthday...
SO YOU SEE...
My "double duty" card will fit many up and coming holidays or events.

********************************************

Deb

For my Double Duty Dare project, it was the Tiger Lily stamp to the rescue!  I first made a lovely but conventional birthday card featuring that wonderful floral stamp:

but then noticed that the bottom part of the stamp looked remarkably like a big splash of water and that led to this card!

Pop on over to my blog for the how to and to see the fun surprise inside of my Make A Splash card, hope to see you there!

********************************************

My double duty project can be for someone that needs a little pick me up or would even make a lovely little something for Mother's day.

Double Duty

This is our toughest Challenge EVER!

and I am sticking with the theme because I LOVE how it created inspiration. The purpose of this is to help all of us see our products differently. I must confess it initially came to me when looking at a skirt from Jessica's post Red Poppies to Remember where she used the Tiger Lily Stamp as a skirt pattern.

So ponder your work station, crafts, stamps and items and see what how you can create 2 different projects using the same products, take 1 creation and give it 2 purposes, or use 1 product in 2 different ways (ie a stamp as the image or a pattern)

***

So, to kick us off is Claudia and I am so excited.

What a challenge that was! But challenges are there to be stood up to - so here it is: my double duty project that can be made to either be used as a napkin ring or as a little lantern to be put over a small tea light. Emerald Creek offer a huge lot of gorgeous embellishments to create your own designs with - so these two are just for starters ;)

***
Sara, creates awe as she makes an |Easter pattern from a spider web stamp and then powder covered Easter eggs!

I interpreted Double Duty to mean give Double Duty to a product--using it for something it was not originally intended. I've used the Web Stamp to decorate my Easter eggs.

And here I've used embossing powders as glitter for my pastel eggs. Stop by my blog for even more ways I've used Emerald Creek products to decorate my Easter eggs.

***

If you own stamps, getting double duty out of them allows you to get more out of them. By creating a variety of ready made cards on the front, with a sentiment and image that can take on double duty, allows you to be ready to personalize it with the required occasion on the inside at a moment's notice.

My "hope" card fits the bill. The inside sentiment can be for a 'thinking of you' type card with a sentiment like... "... you have a great day!" .... or a birthday sentiment like... "... your day is as special as you!"... or even a get well soon type sentiment... "... you are better soon!". And there you have it, just like that you can get double or even possibly triple or quadruple duty with the right combination of stamped image and sentiment. I am really excited about this month's Dare and to see how it inspires people with their interpretation of double duty. Be sure to visit my blog for how-to info and three other card versions using the Tiger Lily and Hope stamps.

Splatter some Fun - March Dare pt2

Are we having fun yet?!

So far I have LOVED the creative splatters. You have made this first half of March so exciting, and if you haven't entered yet, or you want some more inspiration, check out these AMAZING pieces from the second half of the Design Team.

***

Splattering?!?... YES, please! There is something very freeing about splattering. You have to let go and let it be. Not to mention that it is fun... well for me anyway. Having taught splattering techniques at various workshop classes, I know that it is a source of stress for some. The trick is to be relaxed and loose of hand and start with less because you can always add more.

For this month's challenge, I created a canvas with splattered glitter emboss powders. I used two different splatter techniques including one that I taught as part of my Emerald Creek CHA 2017 class. Drop by my blog to learn more.

***

I know I have days when I need to remind myself of the sentiment I put on my dress.  Art helps me remember that happiness and health are the most important things in life.  I love to splatter, but I made sure to splatter all the things for this project! I have a full tutorial for you over on my blog today.

***

I am so excited about the "Splatter" Dare Challenge this month! I created a Gladiolus Card using lots of distress paint and other fun mixed media details. Stop by my blog to see the tutorial and step out photos.

***

What a fun dare this month!  I had a great time splattering Distress stains, acrylic paint, water and Emerald Creek embossing powders while creating my Dwell In Possibility mixed media panel, hope you can pop by my blog for the how to.

Splatter Some Fun! - March Dare Pt 1

So another month of 2017 is here

All of the Creativation and post show orders (Thank You Seth Apter, Huge Hugs)  have shipped as of today. And I am rapidly catching up on blogging and post show project creations.

This month I wanted to have some creative fun and just encourage everyone to let loose and get messy :)

Let's bring on the SPLATTERS! use paint, powders, ink, coffee, tea, pastes or whatever you think you can splatter and join the Design Team for your chance to Win.

*****

When I saw the theme for this month's dare, I was so excited! I couldn't wait to clean off a space on my work table to fling around some paint, ink, water and yes, some embossing powder to get my splattered background. I even splattered my butterfly with that beautiful Onyx Frost embossing powder! I hope you stop by my blog to see how this wall hanging came together.

***

I love splatter patterns! And I love combining splatter with a bit of bling which seems to be quite contradictory at first, right? Splatters are something we don't think of as being precious or shiny. But to me they are - at least when I create them. ;)

A Creativation 2017 Find - Guest Designer Josafine

Creativation was an incredible adventure this year.

I am always looking for that take away or that special something. I will breakdown all that happened in the coming posts, but being so busy when I returned, a vortex was created that has sucked time away faster then I could imagine.

But the first of my takeaways was Josafine Fouarge

(aka @holylise on instagram or +HolyLise on google)

Josafine joined in one of our make and takes on the Creativation show floor.  Her passion was ignited in the project and she fell in love with the products. Much to my surprise she inquired about any DT openings and I took a blind gamble and went with a guest post.

Moments like this is why the Creative Arts industry is so wonderful, the unknown talent is limitless. I was thrilled and covered in goosebumps when she submitted a rough project photo.

Please Check out Josafine's 'Simple' projects with emphasis on Fractured Ice Embossing powder by Emerald Creek &  The Simple stamp from Kelly Klapstein's brush letting collection.

I’m so excited to be guest designing for Emerald Creek today and I’m so grateful for this opportunity. Thanks Kim for letting me create with your amazing products!

I couldn’t stop myself, so I decided to create not just one, but two cards using the “simple” stamp from Kelly Klapstein. I think it’s a gorgeous font and even though the word might suggest a clean and simple card, I wanted to get a little messier with it.

I started with creating some texture for one of the cards using a doily stencil and white texture paste. Thankfully, the paste dried fast, so I was able to mess around with some Color Bursts, creating two very different backgrounds. Then I stamped the “simple” word - one on vellum and heat embossed with Fractured Ice Crystals, the other directly on top of the paper and outlined with a black pen – and added some finishing touches by adhering a few gemstones to the card and wrapping white twine around it.

What do you think? Too simple for the “simple” stamp? ;)

(Don't miss our 'Rock the Red' Dare too, I can see these projects inspiring some Red Versions)

Happy Creating!
